SkyWindow is in SIGGRAPH ASIA 2020 Art Gallery
It is my honor and pleasure to announce that my work, “SkyWindow,” has been selected in the Art Gallery Session of SIGGRAPH ASIA 2020_Diving Diversity this year. Due to the COVID-19, the whole event will be held virtually online from Dec 4th to 13th which should be originally taking place in Daegu, South Korea.
The main theme of this year’s Art Gallery is “Untitled & United”. The “SkyWindow” is an immersive and intimate experience with sky-like projections on the ceiling as an interactive installation in a dark room. Metaphorically, the “SkyWindow” implies a piece of “hope” people desperately desire under hours of quarantine in an entire enclosure space over this pandemic crisis. This interactive installation was originally designed for 2 people to experience at one time representing the situation that my wife and I had sheltered in our tiny apartment for 3 months. Although the audience won’t be able to experience this interactive piece in person, there is an introduction on the official webpage, and you can check on the work on my Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/467863317).

很高興也很榮幸這次能與其他傑出的藝術家獲選參與SIGGRAPH ASIA 202_Diving Diversity中Art Gallery的作品之一。SIGGRAPH為電腦圖形及互動技術展覽會，自1974年始以北美城市為基地舉辦年度展會，2008年起更另外組織了SIGGRAPH ASIA，每年在亞洲不同城市舉辦，是電腦視覺圖像與互動科技藝術與技術的指標性活動，為亞洲相關領域專業人員提供資訊交流的平台。今年因疫情的關係，本將於韓國大邱舉行的實體會議與展覽，均改以線上於12月4至13日進行。
今年的Art Gallery以”Untitled & United”為主題。獲選的“SkyWindow”這件作品體現了太太與我在美國自封城以來在家隔離，足不出戶近三個月的生活。居處於一樓且侷限的公寓空間中，抬頭仰望天空這看似平常的事情也顯得困難，於是乎興起了何不在天花板開啟自己的一扇窗的想法。透過投影的方式，把虛擬的月亮與抽象的雲朵投射到天花板上，加上舉起手與之互動的聲光效果，提供了一絲絲逃離現實與抓住希望的微小期待。本互動裝置原設定為兩人一組參觀為限，以重現我與太太二人的氛圍，能讓觀者更沈浸於當時的景況。可惜今年展覽改以線上舉行，所以沒辦法讓觀眾實體體驗，官方網站上有提供作品SkyWindow的基本資料，影片可至我Vimeo網站觀看 (https://vimeo.com/467863317)。
