ArmorWall

The traditional Chinese paper-folding/origami toy called “East-West-South-North-Center” is used as a component to compose an interactive surface of this project. This overall surface is created by a specific folding-paper technique, called “East-West-South-North-Center“. Moreover, two servo motors are harnessed here as a mechanism to control the “East-West-South-North-Center” surface by spinning the plates which have strings connecting to several particular nodes on the surface. Arduino is used as the micro-controller of this project manipulating the degrees of the spinning rotation. By sensing the surroundings environmental data from the photovaristors and varistors attached to the surface, the rotation of the nodes will change accordingly to influence the overall shape of the “East-West-South-North-Center” surface.
